
Dillard University professor Robert Collins is joining Verite to contribute a monthly column of political analysis on issues and policies of importance to readers.
Collins is a professor of Urban Studies and Public Policy at Dillard, where he holds the Conrad N. Hilton Endowed Professorship. He previously held positions as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and associate vice president for academic affairs at Dillard. He also served on the Urban Planning faculty at Harvard University.
Before entering academia, he had a career as a congressional staffer, working for former U.S. Sen. Bennett Johnston.
He appears regularly on WVUE Fox 8 TV, a news partner of Verite, as a political analyst. He also has appeared on international television networks, including the British Broadcasting Company. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications, and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies, all from the University of New Orleans.
Verite is a Black-led nonprofit news organization with a twofold mission to produce in-depth journalism that serves the whole community while training, educating and mentoring a new generation of minority journalists.
